Heavy Rain (Makeup Blog #2)

Oh my Allah can I just listen to the Heavy Rain soundtrack 24/7?
First of all Heavy Rain is a video game which is exclusive to the Playstation. I've played it and I can't help but love the music! The game is about a serial killer killing off young boys when there is heavy rain, hence the title. The music sets the tone for every scene whether it's a death, chopping your own finger off or checking out the new apartment with your lady(if you get the best ending).
It makes some scenes super intense and panicky and you feel as if your the one that's about to die or it makes you feel really sad and want to cry buckets.

This is the scene after your oldest son dies and your life has gone downhill. It makes you feel really bad for the character Ethan. It's such a beautiful but depressing song (I could say the same for most of them)
Here is my favorite song out of them all. It's a little bit creepy but this is when you have to decide if you want to cut your finger off with the dull knives you find around the house or not in order to get the next set of letters to complete the address in order to find your son. The quote from this scene "How far are you willing to go to save your son?" paired along with this song and the animation of Ethan really made me tear up.

This is the happiest song of the bunch. They played it in the beginning where your life seemed perfect and again in the end where Ethan is picking up the pieces to come around full circle.

These songs are all really beautiful and it makes me wish I could play the piano just to play them.

Halloween Music (Makeup Blog #1)

It is almost Halloween and I am PUMPED! This whole entire week all I've been listening to is Halloween music. Between classic Halloween movies, Halloween specials and all these songs I've been listening to I think my parents are about ready to kill me.

Some of the classics I've been listening to are songs This is Halloween and Monster Mash! I always pick them when I play Just Dance. They remind me of the little kiddie Halloween parties my mom would take me to and trick-or-treating to like 10 o' clock! (GASP) They are easy to sing along to and jam.

Some of the creepier songs have always give me goosebumps and made me look twice but isn't that what Halloween music is for? Songs like Tiptoe Through The Tulips and the Marilyn Manson cover of Sweet Dreams are perfect for that I-will-die-tonight vibe.

I used to think this song was fun and not creepy at all. Then I watched Insidious and now it is forever ruined for me.
My mom showed me the original a long time ago and I used to listen to it while jogging but then once I watched American Horror Story and heard this version, I was like jinkies, this is actually pretty creepy.
Should I be Velma this Halloween? I already have her catch phrases down and everything!

Bombay Bicycle Club

I like the Bombay Bicycle Club but I don't think I would see them in concert. Their sound is nice and soothing but it's not something you can sing along to easily. It's also too calm to jam out to. Even though I wouldn't want to see them in concert I still like them.
I feel in love with their Flaws album.
The first song I've ever heard by them was Ivy&Gold and it was amazing. It's an easy song to listen to when I'm reading and drinking coffee.

I like the acoustic version better though. I think the whistling gives it a more charming and quirky feel.

I love the backup vocals in this. The guitar and the voices are what makes it.  It's such an autumn song! This song is a must have! You will probably like this song if you like Home by Phillips Phillips. It's not as happy or inspiring but it really reminds me of it.

This song isn't part of the Flaws album but I had to include it.
It's a total stress reliever and is beautiful! I don't know what instruments they are using but I love the sound!

I think most of their sound is very mellow which is why I play their songs when I'm doing my homework. The lyrics don't make me lose focus but instead it helps me concentrate.

Rubber Soul

This album is amazing. The songs AND the groovy album cover. I think the Beatles have come a long way. Their lyrics and their sound is a lot different. My favorite songs from the album are Norwegian Wood, Michelle and In my life which I think sound a lot different from their other songs.

When I listen to Norwegian Wood I feel like it has a bit of bollywood in it. Is that just me?
I am absolutely  in love with Michelle. I like the piano(which I thought was guitar until you told us). I love the french lines and the harmonies. I feel like the beginning of this song could be incorporated into a few of the horror tv shows that are popping up like American Horror Story Asylum or 666 Park Avenue. It would fit perfectly. It has a hint of creepiness.
In my life is a really good song that makes me feel nostalgic even though I'm like 15. It's sad and not upbeat like their usual stuff. I really like the harmonies in this one.

Also I like Drive My Car because dang that intro is good. It takes me back to Twist and Shout. It's catchy and very upbeat. Also is this girl just sleeping with him to get rides to become famous?

Oh how I wish I was at ACL today! A lot of my favorite bands are playing today! The Black Keys, Tegan and Sarah, Weezer and M83! Kinzy asked me if I wanted to leave with her but I was so not prepared so I said no! Biggest regret ever.

I went home and I took a nap and I missed EVERYTHING!
If I was there though, here are a few favorites from each artist that I would love to hear live.

                                                                The Black Keys
Little Black Submarines
Everlasting Light

Tegan and Sarah
Walking with a ghost
The Con

Weezer
The Good Life
Say it ain't so

M83
Lower your eyelids
Midnight City

They are all very chill. I have all these songs on my phone and I usually listen to them to fall asleep.

Disney Music

I know, I know...wtf is Ann blogging about yet again?
This week it's Disney music! I could listen to anything Disney all day everyday. It puts a little pep in my step, it gives me motivation, and it helps ease the pain of Post Disney Depression. They make me feel like I can do anything and it brings back really good memories.
This one is one of my favorites. I listen to this song when I do tests, it helps me ace ALL of them. It makes me confident that I can do it ya know? Pretty awesome.
This song puts that pep in my step. It's very happy and upbeat and a great alternative to coffee to wake you up. I love Mandy Moore's voice in this!

This is that song that brings back instant good memories! Kinzy and I went to Disneyland last year and every time we rode Splash Mountain this would play. This song sums up my entire experince of Disney and I love it.

Here a few more of my favorite songs

Harry Potter Soundtracks

This entire week all I have been listening to is the Harry Potter soundtracks especially from the first movie. The reason why is because I am rereading the series and the music makes the books even better. It makes the scenes in my head play out like a movie but with much more detail.
I especially like music from the first movie because of the light and whimsical feel. It goes with the idea I have that since this music makes me think of when Harry Potter first discovered the wizarding world and it's magical and innocent, it will make me feel like I'm beginning a new journey.( Even thought I read the series 7 times through) I actually have a playlist on Youtube of all the songs from the soundtrack but here are two I feel go with my idea.
I don't really like any music from the later movies because you can feel Harry having all this teenage angst and the music makes me more depressed then excited for a new journey.

I just think music helps fuel the imagination which is what reading needs.

Help!

I really liked that movie we watched in class the other day. I didn't get all the jokes but I still thought it was pretty funny. I did get the general plot but I'm sure that a lot of jokes went over my head.
I almost died thought when Ringo tried to dry his hands and everyone got sucked it. Their looks of surprise while their clothes were getting sucked off made me laugh so hard I snorted. P.j gave me one of his many judgmental looks, I could tell even in the dark.
When George's shirt flew off, that's when the snort came.
P.j gave me one of these looks
yeah....
Also I really like singing along with all the songs. They are pretty great and I jam out with Kinzy using my phone as a mic. My favorite song from the movie was Ticket to Ride!
The song is so great. The video is great. The Beatles are great.
Also that one scene where Paul shrunk and curled up in the ash tray was so cute!
